Discount Kitchen Appliances for The Rest of Us

Some people are used to the finer things in life. They are born with a silver spoon in their mouth and the latest model iPhone next to their ears. They go to the finest schools and eat caviar for lunch. Some people have it all. Steak for breakfast, door handles made out of animal tusks, linoleum counter tops, gold rings and hot tubs. Some people are lucky enough to never have their budgets pinched by unexpected expenses or sudden set backs. If their new kitchen appliances break, they just go out and buy even newer kitchen appliances. If the couch gets a big puddle of Godiva chocolate syrup on it, they don't look for discount home furniture, they buy another couch for however many thousands of dollars that takes.

For the rest of us deals count. A discount Cuisinart slow cooker is not something we can pass up. People like us have to save up for a slow cooker. We comb the weekend paper's circulars and hunt for bargains online. If our coffee maker, purchased on lay away some time during the Clinton White House fails us, we will not just immediately start hunting for new kitchen appliances. We instead will probably go to friends, family Craig's List in an attempt to find a hand me down. If that fails, we will hunt the internet for discount kitchen appliances. If we can not find a coffee maker in our price range, we could potentially be without one for months. Others, will have their "people" by them a fresh coffee maker twenty minutes before it's broken. These privileged few have no understanding of what the rest of us go through every day.

There is a quiet dignity in not being rich. A dignity which I hope will keep me warm at night though I know it won't. Looking for discounts some have said is the American way. I can not bring myself to disagree. We are a people who appreciate value and we will go to great lengths to get it. Just think about your Mother, clipping coupons every Sunday so she could get through the week with as little financial stress as possible. Think about your Uncle who always drives across state lines for a cheaper gas price. Think about your cousin who has been reusing Chinese food containers as plates for as long as he's breathed. Discount home furniture, discount kitchen appliances, discount snacks, discount anything sounds pretty great to the whole lot of us.
